Ron DeSantis (R-FL) confidently declared his belief that the 2024 GOP nominee will undeniably be none other than the larger than life former President Trump. Standing tall and proud, DeSantis waved off any possibility of Republican candidate Nikki Haley (R-S.C.) snagging the nomination, claiming that Trump would triumph over her in a battle for the ages. The showdown is set to take place in the heart of South Carolina, where Trump’s lead over Haley in nearly all polls, particularly in the Palmetto State, is as solid as a rock.
With a mischievous glint in his eye, DeSantis took a jab at Haley’s campaign strategy, lambasting her for attempting to woo non-conservative voters. He quipped that trying to win a Republican nomination by appealing to those outside of the conservative base is about as foolish as wearing a swimsuit in a blizzard. DeSantis scoffed at Haley’s approach, claiming that her lack of support among Republicans has left her high and dry. Despite Haley clinging on with a white-knuckled grip, firmly stating that she won’t back down, the writing is on the wall. An Emerson College Polling/The Hill poll revealed that a whopping 58 percent of likely South Carolina Republican primary voters are firmly in the Trump camp, leaving Haley trailing far behind at a mere 35 percent. Even when the undecided voters were coerced to make a choice, the majority leaned heavily towards Trump, leaving Haley in the dust.
DeSantis has been unwavering in his allegiance to Trump, boldly declaring his support for the former President. He emphatically shut the door on any possibility of backing Haley, painting her as a relic of the past Republican establishment, quipping that she represents nothing more than a reheated dish of corporate interests. With a sly grin, DeSantis made his stance crystal clear, leaving no doubt that Trump is the only candidate worthy of his endorsement.
