In a stunning turn of events, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has been impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives for his complete failure to secure the southern border. With a record number of illegal crossings in December 2023 and countless more under the disastrous Biden-Mayorkas regime, it’s about time someone took action against this incompetence.

President Biden, in his usual fashion, lashed out at House Republicans for holding Mayorkas accountable. He called their actions unconstitutional and defended Mayorkas as an honorable public servant. But let’s be clear, Mayorkas has done anything but uphold the rule of law faithfully. If he had, he wouldn’t be facing impeachment. It’s clear that Biden is just using Mayorkas as a fall guy while he himself is the root cause of the border crisis.
From day one, Biden reversed Donald Trump’s effective border policies like “Remain in Mexico” and the border wall. These policies were clearly working, but Biden simply doesn’t care. He could restore them tomorrow if he wanted to, but instead, he has chosen to turn the border into a sieve on purpose. It’s no wonder Republicans are concerned and have taken this impeachment action.
Biden’s argument about “blatant act of unconstitutional partisanship” is laughable. The impeachment process is clearly outlined in the Constitution, and Democrats should know that since they impeached Trump twice over trumped-up charges. It’s a desperate attempt to deflect responsibility and avoid accountability for their own failures.
And then there’s Biden’s claim that Mayorkas and his administration have worked hard to strengthen border security. Seriously? It’s an open secret that they have done the exact opposite. The border crisis is a result of deliberate policies and negligence. More money and resources won’t solve the problem when there are already laws in place that Biden simply refuses to enforce.
Biden’s angry tirade and blame-shifting is as pathetic as his border policies. He accuses everyone else but fails to take any responsibility for his own failures. While Mayorkas’ impeachment faces an uncertain future in the Senate, it’s a small step towards holding someone accountable. But it’s not enough. The American people deserve leadership, not empty promises and excuses.
Come November, let’s hope the consequences finally catch up to Biden himself. It’s time for a real change at the border, and it starts with getting rid of the failed policies and holding the responsible parties accountable.
