Disney’s attempt to revive its live-action adaptation of “Snow White” has taken a nosedive thanks to the fiery remarks of lead actress Rachel Zegler. Instead of focusing on the film and its potential box office success, Zegler opted to stir the pot with incendiary comments aimed squarely at Donald Trump and his supporters. It seems the actress is intent on doubling down on her controversial role in the film and her apparent disdain for traditional values.
Zegler’s previous comments have already sparked outrage; she dismissed the original “Snow White” story as an archetype of outdated patriarchy and made it clear that her version would portray a Snow White independent of a prince. While attempting to modernize the story, she made a mockery of the original prince’s role, labeling him a stalker. This self-sufficient Snow White fantasy may satisfy the extreme left, but it alienates the very audience Disney desperately needs to win over.
After a series of lackluster releases like “The Little Mermaid” and “The Acolyte,” Disney found itself in desperate need of a hit. However, when one of its stars rampages online, spouting vitriol against half the country, it raises questions about the studio’s direction. The new “Snow White” is meant to be a financial lifeboat, but Zegler might very well be sinking that ship with her divisive behavior.
Her latest tirade on social media struck a nerve, as she expressed discontent over Donald Trump’s re-election and the alleged impact it would have on her daughter’s rights. Fans of the former president were quick to point out that this wasn’t merely a criticism; Zegler implied that Trump supporters should be subjected to some form of suffering. This kind of rhetoric showcases a troubling trend in leftist discourse, where calls for compassion somehow devolve into incitements of hate.

Critics often highlight the hypocrisy that runs rampant among Hollywood’s elite. Zegler’s affluent lifestyle, filled with opportunities that many can only dream of, contrasts sharply with her inflammatory statements. The absurdity of her situation should not go unnoticed; she’s safe in her bubble, hurling insults at people whose values differ from her own. This glaring lack of self-awareness raises questions about how genuine her beliefs actually are.
At this point, one has to wonder what Disney intends to do with its future projects. The past leadership attempted to steer the company toward more inclusive storytelling, but this persistent embrace of wokeness has come at a steep price. With audiences giving the cold shoulder to the latest releases, the question remains: how much longer can the house of Mouse keep ignoring the signs? The road ahead looks bleak unless they reconsider their approach to content, which includes the likes of Zegler. The choice to keep hiring actors who ignite culture wars only serves to alienate potential viewers and deepen Disney’s troubles.
