DNC Blunders Reignite Stolen Valor Concerns Around Minnesota Governor Tim Walz

The concerns swirling around Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota reach dizzying new heights as the Democratic National Committee (DNC) just can’t seem to get his military rank straight. In a stunning display during the AAPI Caucus, they mistakenly dubbed him “Command Sergeant Major,” a title he has never held. Apparently, the DNC is auditioning for a role in a circus with that kind of blunder, and it’s not the first time they’ve tripped over their own feet while trying to prop up their governor.

With the Harris-Walz campaign sending mixed messages about the governor’s military service, it’s no wonder that worries about stolen valor are boiling to the surface. The fact that Walz walked away from his unit just as they were gearing up for a deployment to Iraq only adds fuel to the fire. Apparently, being from Minnesota means you can skate by with a heroic narrative without all the pesky details of actual service. The DNC just doesn’t seem to get how this looks to actual veterans who have served honorably.

Republican Senator JD Vance of Ohio wasted no time calling out Walz for his lack of combat experience. According to Vance, Walz’s biggest accomplishment has been standing idle while Minneapolis was set ablaze during the riots of 2020. While the city was overrun, Walz was nowhere to be found, proving that when it comes to real challenges, he’s more of a spectator than a participant. Rather than deploying his National Guard swiftly, he sat back and watched as chaos reigned supreme. In Vance’s eyes, the only battle Walz has faced is the one against accountability.

While Walz was supposed to be a rising star for the Democrats, he’s now a lightning rod for controversy. Just last week, former National Guard member Thomas Behrend wrote to Walz, imploring him to stop claiming a rank he never earned. It seems that instead of gaining respect, Walz is collecting reminders of why he should probably be more cautious about how he portrays his military past. And the DNC continues to shovel more dirt on the reputation of their own candidate, making him a prime target for Republican jabs.

The tension escalated as Vance pushed for debates, highlighting Walz’s reluctance to step up to the plate. Claiming that Walz talks a big game but refuses to engage in direct conversations is just one more notch in the governor’s growing belt of failures. He’s agreed to one debate on October 1, but the looming question remains: why is he dodging more face-offs? Instead of showing leadership, he seems committed to avoiding the hot seat, showing a cowardly streak that Vance is more than happy to amplify. It’s evident that the only deploying Tim Walz is good at is the deployment of excuses.

As the circus of the DNC drags on and J.D. Vance continues to hit him where it hurts, one thing is for certain: Walz’s credibility is tanking faster than a Democrat can say “stolen valor.” If the DNC thinks a flashy title and strategic dodging will suffice, they must have forgotten that voters are smarter than that. Walz is in for a rocky road ahead, and the spotlight isn’t going anywhere.
