Doug Emhoff’s recent appearance at the Democratic National Convention might have been intended to drum up support for his wife, but for many conservatives, it raises a few eyebrows and a fair share of giggles. Emhoff delivered a speech that some are calling charming, but the reality is his efforts reflect a deeper truth about the Biden-Harris administration: a desperate attempt to sell their brand using the personal life of a second gentleman who, let’s face it, is more PR than personality.
The evening kicked off with a touching video introduction narrated by his son, featuring heartwarming family moments. Of course, this familial appeal was all part of the carefully crafted strategy to humanize a team that often feels more like a bad sitcom than a serious administration. Emhoff came across as relatable and likable, discussing how he and Kamala Harris met, fell in love, and built their lives together. However, it’s hard to ignore the absurdity of the situation. A married couple trying to peddle sincerity while the country grapples with inflation and a border crisis seems a tad disconnected.
