North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, known for being a bit of a dark horse in the race, could be missing out on tonight’s GOP primary debate due to a personal injury. Reports indicate that Burgum was rushed to a Milwaukee hospital after playing a game of pick-up basketball with his staff. Ouch! Now, we might have to see the debate with just seven candidates instead of eight. Talk about bad luck!

Burgum’s campaign has stated that it’s “unclear if he will be able to stand at the debate,” which sounds pretty serious. The injury happened on Tuesday night and required him to be taken to the emergency room. Luckily, he was discharged the next day, but it’s still up in the air if he’ll recover in time.

Although Burgum may not have the same name recognition as some of the other candidates, he qualified for the debate by earning 3% support in the Fox News Iowa poll. Hey, the guy is a fighter! But let’s face it, he’s not exactly a household name nationally. This debate was supposed to be his big moment to shine and make a name for himself.
The other candidates on the stage will surely be looking for their own opportunities to stand out among the competition, including former President Trump. It’s a shame that Burgum might miss out on this chance. But hey, life’s not fair sometimes, right?
The debate airs tonight at 9 p.m. ET on Fox News, and it’s shaping up to be an interesting one. Tune in to see if Burgum’s recovery is speedy enough for him to make an appearance. And let’s hope none of the other candidates get injured playing basketball before then!
