Elon Musk’s platform X, formerly known as Twitter, has announced new policies that will allow users to post adult content on the site. According to the platform’s guidelines, pornographic content can be posted with some restrictions, including full and partial nudity and explicit or implied sexual behavior, as long as it is consensually produced and distributed. The platform’s Adult Content guidelines state that adult nudity and sexual behavior can be shared as long as it is properly labeled and not prominently displayed. X believes that sexual expression can be a legitimate form of artistic expression and supports the autonomy of adults to engage with and create content related to sexuality.
A representative for X defended the decision to allow adult content on the platform, stating that the enforcement against such content has not changed and that the new policies clarify the platform’s rules and increase transparency on enforcement. These policies replace the former Sensitive Media and Violent Speech policies, but the platform will continue to act on these types of content with the same philosophy.
