In a recent report, it is alleged that Arizona Republican Party Chair Jeff DeWit had a conversation with GOP Senate candidate Kari Lake in an attempt to dissuade her from running last year. The U.K. Daily Mail published an audio recording of their conversation, where a man identified as DeWit can be heard telling Lake that there were influential individuals who did not want her to enter the race.

DeWit suggested that she wait for two years and offered her an unspecified amount of money from people “back east” that should make her happy. Lake declined the offer, and when pressed for information on who wanted her to stay out, DeWit did not disclose any names.
This shocking conversation seemed to catch Lake off guard, and DeWit reportedly told her not to reveal that it ever happened. Lake responded by expressing her concerns about defeating former President Trump, stating that it would be detrimental to the country. When DeWit asked her to come up with a dollar amount, Lake refused, questioning if she could be bought.
Lake also shared her previous experience of being bribed not to run for the Senate during CPAC last year, an incident that the establishment media used to smear her. She emphasized that powerful individuals from the East were behind these attempts to remove her from politics. Despite the pressure, Lake asserted that she would not make a deal with these kinds of people and viewed this as a battle worth fighting for.
