Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis clapped back at House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) with an epic response that left him reeling. She accused him of meddling in her prosecution of former President Donald Trump through his relentless records requests. Willis made it clear that Jordan was overstepping his boundaries and abusing his congressional power by poking his nose into Georgia criminal matters.
Willis didn’t hold back in her scathing letter to Jordan, stating that his attempt to interfere with an active criminal case in Georgia goes against the Constitution. She called out his violation of Georgia’s sovereignty, which she found offensive and unacceptable. It’s clear that Willis is not one to be messed with.
The district attorney’s strong response came after Jordan had asked her to provide documents and records related to her indictment of Trump. Jordan argued that there were federal interests in the case, including the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause, Trump’s federal benefits, potential interference with the 2024 presidential election, the use of federal funds, and coordination with special counsel Jack Smith.

However, Willis wasn’t having any of it. She argued that Jordan’s communication offended principles of state sovereignty, violated the separation of powers, and improperly interfered with the administration of criminal justice. Willis asserted her right to ignore Jordan’s “unjustified and illegal intrusion” on her prosecution, but still provided a “voluntary” response to the chairman.
In her response, Willis didn’t shy away from issuing some scornful remarks and mocking Jordan’s lack of legal prowess. She directed him to educate himself on how a grand jury operates and even recommended a book about racketeering violations, the very charges she has brought against Trump. Ouch.
It’s clear that Willis won’t be intimidated or swayed by Jordan’s attempts to meddle in her case. Her strong and feisty response has put him in his place and serves as a reminder that she will not back down when it comes to upholding the law.
