The recent actions of new FBI and Justice Department leadership have certainly stirred the pot among conservative activists who seem to be less than pleased with the agency’s handling of requests involving whistleblowers and political retaliation. It appears that Director Kash Patel and his crew are facing quite a backlash for what can only be described as slow-walking a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. This request is aimed at uncovering how conservative FBI agents were allegedly retaliated against during the Biden administration—because apparently, the new leadership thinks transparency is overrated.
Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog organization that’s no stranger to the art of digging for the truth, has taken legal action against the Justice Department. They want to get their hands on the emails of FBI section chief Dena Perkins, who has been accused of targeting agents for their conservative views and for their political support of Trump, as well as those who dared to question the COVID-19 narrative. One has to wonder what Ms. Perkins’ next role will be—head of the “How to Crush Dissent” committee?
Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley did not shy away from pointing fingers at Ms. Perkins, claiming she used her power to silence those who disagreed with her. While it may be difficult to imagine, the media seem remarkably uninterested in covering these serious allegations. In typical bureaucratic fashion, the Justice Department has issued denials and cited privacy exemptions, all while Judicial Watch continues its crusade for transparency. Because nothing screams accountability quite like an agency that dodges and weaves like a professional prizefighter.

The promotion of an FBI official, who played a leading role in the agency’s crackdown on individuals associated with the January 6 events, has also raised eyebrows. Kash Patel has been taking heat for his decision to elevate Steven Jensen as the new head of the Washington Field Office. This choice has incited fury among MAGA activists who are convinced that Jensen’s history with the Jan. 6 investigation casts a dark shadow over any possibility for a fair and impartial FBI moving forward. There’s something ironic about “draining the swamp” while promoting individuals who are seen as swamp creatures.
Judicial Watch’s President has certainly not held back, expressing frustration over the continued cover-up culture within the FBI. The call for reinstating security clearances for several whistleblowers targeted by the Biden-era officials has also not gone unnoticed. In an age where accountability should be king, it seems the FBI is more akin to a magician performing sleight of hand, diverting attention away from their own internal chaos and the retaliatory tactics used against certain agents who dared to express their conservative beliefs.
With the promotion of Jensen, who views January 6 as a “domestic terrorism event,” the prevailing sentiment among conservative circles is one of mistrust. Comments from various conservative voices indicate that this is not merely an administrative shuffle but rather a serious policy issue. Some are even suggesting that Secretary of State Marco Rubio has undertaken more aggressive personnel changes at USAID than Patel and Attorney General Pam Bondi have at the FBI. The era of “personnel is policy” has never seemed more fitting, and conservatives are bracing themselves for the fallout from these questionable promotions and decisions.
