The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), under the leadership of Administrator Lee Zeldin, has launched a sweeping investigation into $20 billion in taxpayer funds distributed by the Biden administration in its final days. These funds, allocated through the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund under the Inflation Reduction Act, were earmarked for climate and clean-energy projects. However, Zeldin has raised serious concerns about the lack of oversight and transparency surrounding these grants, describing the process as a “scheme” designed to rush funds out the door before President Trump’s inauguration.
Zeldin has vowed to claw back these funds, citing a leaked video of a Biden-era EPA official admitting to “tossing gold bars off the Titanic”—a metaphor for wasteful spending with little accountability.
