In a bold move, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has filed a motion to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib, and it’s likely to succeed. Tlaib has been under fire for her delayed response to Hamas’ brutal attack on Israel, in which 1,400 innocent people were killed. While Tlaib failed to condemn the terrorist group for their actions, she quickly jumped on board with their propaganda when they accused Israel of bombing a hospital.

Even after it was proven that the damage was caused by a rocket misfire from Palestinian Islamists, Tlaib refused to apologize or retract her claims. Instead, she went as far as accusing Israel of genocide at a rally in front of the Capitol Building, which then turned into an insurrection. It’s not surprising that some Democrats are distancing themselves from Tlaib, and it’s possible that Jewish members of the party could even vote in favor of censuring her.
While this motion is a step in the right direction, it falls short of what needs to be done to hold Tlaib accountable for her actions. The congresswoman has essentially offered aid and comfort to terrorists who have tortured, raped, and murdered innocent civilians. Her spreading of misinformation about the Al-Ahli Hospital incident has only given more strength to Hamas and potentially endangered the lives of the 200 people they are holding hostage.
Tlaib’s behavior goes far beyond what should be acceptable from a member of Congress, and she should be expelled, not just censured. Whether or not such a motion would succeed is uncertain, but what’s important is that Democrats are put on record for supporting a member of their party who sympathizes with terrorists. At the very least, this will bring some much-needed clarity.
