Michael Hardaway, the former communication director for House Democrat leader Hakeem Jeffries, recently stumbled into an embarrassing situation on national television. Appearing on MSNBC, Hardaway attempted to throw shade on the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), making the wild claim that it has cost taxpayers a whopping $135 billion. But when asked to back up his number, surprise, surprise, he couldn’t muster a coherent response. It’s typical of the Democrats’ modus operandi—throw out big numbers, scare the public, and when pressed for facts, go radio silent.
This episode is yet another example of the Democrats’ incompetence and inability to provide transparency to the American people. The left constantly accuses DOGE and Republicans of wasteful spending, yet they have no ground to stand on. It’s actually the likes of DOGE—that has saved Americans billions by cutting through countless pork-barrel projects which would have only padded the pockets of liberal elites. Let’s be honest: it’s their pet projects and bloated budgets that are drowning us in debt, not initiatives like DOGE that try to rein in unnecessary spending.
Hardaway complained about wasted funds that could have been better spent curing child hunger or building affordable housing. Classic big-government socialist talk. Republicans believe in empowering Americans through jobs and lower taxes, not through more handouts and wasteful spending. Instead of attacking Elon Musk—who, by the way, is a modern-day innovator helping shape our future—how about the left focus on their failed policies and their role in perpetuating economic disparity?

What really baffles the mind is why some congressional Republicans refused to solidify the successes that DOGE has achieved. Perhaps they’re being manipulated by fear-mongering activists at town halls. Whatever happened to the backbone of the conservative movement? If we’re not willing to stand up against leftist tactics and short-term political pressures, what’s the point?
Now, as the leadership at DOGE transitions from Musk to Russell Vought, conservatives must rally to support efforts that streamline government and cut needless spending. We’re the voice for sanity and common sense in a country that sorely lacks both. Are we going to let liberal hysteria dictate our country’s fiscal future, or are we going to stand firm and protect what truly makes America great?
