Former Navy SEAL Erik Prince Slams Secret Service Over Failed Trump Assassination Attempt

Another day, another reminder of how poorly our government protects its own. During a recent field hearing focused on the harrowing assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, Erik Prince—former Navy SEAL and founder of Blackwater—laid out the security blunders that turned a near tragedy into a close call for the former commander-in-chief.

U.S. Rep. Eli Crane, a former sniper who knows a thing or two about being in high-stakes situations, grilled Prince on the Secret Service’s performance during this critical event. It turns out, according to Prince, the security of one of the most influential figures in the country was handled with all the expertise of a third-grader trying to defuse a bomb. Instead of a competent protective detail, there was a staggering shortage of agents attending to Trump—a number that paled in comparison to the security detail covering Jill Biden. At an indoor event. With no real security threat.

Prince went on to drop a bombshell concerning the attempted assassination, emphasizing that if the would-be assassin had been connected to a real terrorist organization, the outcome could have been much more sinister. It’s a sobering thought that a 20-year-old kid with a drone could get close enough to take aim at the former president, highlighting just how woefully under-resourced the Secret Service was that day. With the agents having left a rooftop uncovered and failed to coordinate with local law enforcement, one has to wonder if they were training in a kiddie pool instead of preparing to safeguard an ex-President.

As Prince articulated, there were glaring failures that day. Communication was absent, coordination was a joke, and having more agents protecting the First Lady than a former president is a slap in the face to those who understand the stakes. The Secret Service’s ineptitude meant that Trump was essentially out there playing dodgeball with bullets, relying on nothing more than luck to escape calamity.

The hearing unearthed broader concerns, with Prince making a strong case that the failures experienced in Butler, Pennsylvania are symptomatic of a much larger issue—a federal apparatus burdened with incompetence and unaccountability. He pointed out that our government is drowning in waste while our enemies are laughing at us. The situation has reached a point where a serious national security threat isn’t just ignored; it’s almost encouraged by the sheer volume of red tape and bloated bureaucracies that seem more focused on virtue signaling than actual safety.

Prince’s insights served as a grave warning. If the government continues on this path, future tragedies could strike without warning. The so-called “security” they promise to provide is about as useful as a chocolate teapot. Transparency and accountability won’t just help fix these issues; they are absolutely necessary if America is to dodge the next bullet—both literally and figuratively.
