Fox News’ Bill Melugin has called out Axios over their faulty report on the Biden border crisis, and he didn’t hold back. Melugin, who has extensive experience covering the border, called the article “so bad” and criticized the author for not spending enough time at the border or talking to the agents on the ground. He also pointed out that the article’s only quote came from the Cato Institute, without acknowledging the testimony from Border Patrol leaders that the border is not secure.
It’s no surprise that Axios would try to downplay the border crisis and gaslight readers about the term “open borders.” The mainstream media has been working overtime to make excuses for the failures of the Biden administration, and the border crisis is one of their biggest failures. It’s a problem that Joe Biden and Congressional Democrats consistently get low marks for, and it will certainly be one of the top issues voters consider as they head to the polls next year.
The reality is that the border crisis is not a myth, despite what Axios may want you to believe. The number of Border Patrol agents has quadrupled since 1992, barriers and walls have been erected along portions of the U.S.-Mexico border, and high-tech surveillance systems have been implemented. Yet, illegal crossings are still happening at alarming rates, with FY’23 seeing more illegal crossings than ever before.
It’s clear that Axios’ attempt to downplay the border crisis is nothing more than political spin to protect the Biden administration. But the American people deserve the truth, and it’s journalists like Bill Melugin who are dedicated to uncovering it. Their reporting should be commended, while biased and faulty reports like the one from Axios should be called out for what they are – propaganda. The American people deserve a secure border, and it’s time for the Biden administration to take action to address this crisis.
