In a scathing open letter to President Joe Biden and his administration, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp (R-GA) didn’t hold back as he blamed the President’s lax border policies for the tragic death of a Georgia college student. Young Laken Riley, a nursing student at Augusta University, was found dead on the University of Georgia’s campus, the victim of an illegal Venezuelan immigrant, Jose Ibarra. This murderous suspect had slipped into the United States by way of El Paso, Texas, in September 2022 and was allowed to roam freely due to the lack of detention space, as reported by NewsNation. It’s enough to make anyone’s blood boil!

Kemp’s letter minced no words, and rightly so. The Governor slammed Biden’s administration for its failure to secure the southern border, pointing out that over nine million illegal immigrants have crossed into the country since Biden took office. And if that wasn’t alarming enough, at least 58 individuals on the terror watchlist have been encountered between ports of entry this fiscal year alone! This situation is a ticking time bomb, and it’s all thanks to Biden’s disastrous policies.
But the horror doesn’t end there. Not only was Jose Ibarra responsible for the senseless murder of Laken Riley, but his very own brother, Diego Ibarra, was also arrested for possessing a fraudulent U.S. permanent resident card. Shockingly, despite repeated arrests since September 2023, the Department of Justice saw fit to release Diego “while his asylum claims are being processed.” This is a slap in the face to law-abiding citizens everywhere.
Governor Kemp demanded answers from Biden, asserting that the American people deserve to know the full extent of the risks and challenges their communities face due to the administration’s abysmal failures. It’s high time President Biden stopped hiding behind his misguided policies and took responsibility for the chaos he’s unleashed.
As if this tragedy couldn’t get any more heart-wrenching, campus police have found no link between the innocent Laken Riley and the despicable Jose Ibarra. Her promising life was senselessly cut short, leaving the entire state of Georgia in mourning and igniting a firestorm of national outrage. This is a stark reminder that Biden’s disastrous border policies have turned every state into a border state. It’s a national crisis, and Governor Kemp is demanding answers so that Georgia can protect its people when the federal government won’t.
Riley’s untimely death has left a dark cloud over Augusta University, where she was known as a bright and dedicated student who had even made the dean’s list in the previous semester. The campus, along with the entire community, has been rocked by this senseless loss.
As Georgians prepare to bid a final farewell to Laken Riley at her upcoming funeral, the pain and anger linger. It’s a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of Biden’s unforgivable negligence when it comes to securing our borders and protecting American citizens.
