In just 14 days before the Iowa caucuses, former President Donald Trump has been racking up endorsements from the top Republicans in the U.S. House, and even those he’s had differences with in the past. House GOP Whip Tom Emmer is the latest to throw his weight behind Trump, joining other House Republican leaders in endorsing the 45th president.

Emmer emphasized the need for Republicans to unite behind Trump, emphasizing the Democrats’ relentless efforts to keep Joe Biden and his “failed policies” in power. He highlighted the urgency for the GOP to get behind Trump, dubbing him the clear frontrunner for the party. This move comes after Emmer’s short-lived bid for the speakership, during which Trump openly opposed him, labeling him a “Globalist RINO” and expressing doubts about his suitability for the position. Despite their rocky history, the two seem to have mended fences as Emmer extends his support to Trump’s presidential bid.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise had previously endorsed Trump, hailing him as the only candidate capable of salvaging the country and setting it back on course. Additionally, House Speaker Mike Johnson had thrown his weight behind Trump, expressing his unwavering support and confidence in Trump’s ability to secure the nomination and defeat Joe Biden in the upcoming election.
House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik and House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Gary Palmer, along with the entire Republican House delegation from Alabama, had already endorsed Trump in the past. Stefanik had been the first high-ranking House member to endorse Trump back in 2022, touting his track record of strength at home and abroad, a booming economy, secure borders, and respected law enforcement under his presidency.
