GOP Halts “Bipartisan” Bill: Puts America First, Rejects Global Santa Claus Act

In a surprising turn of events, the Senate GOP has put a stop to a so-called ‘bipartisan’ border package that included funding for Ukraine and Israel. Finally, someone in Congress who is willing to take a stand for the American people!

The bill, which fell short of the 60 votes needed to proceed, was seen by many Republicans as an election-year compromise that simply wasn’t good enough. And they’re right! Why should we be spending billions on other countries when our own border security is in shambles?

It’s refreshing to see Republican lawmakers standing up for the American people and insisting that any funding for conflicts abroad be paired with help for our own border. After all, what good is it to send billions overseas while our own citizens suffer the consequences of a porous border?

And let’s not forget that the requested budget for the United States Marine Corps in 2023 was just over $50 billion. So, why are we talking about spending even more on countries thousands of miles away when we have our own military to support?

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, of course, is trying to salvage the funding for Ukraine and Israel by stripping out the border portion. But Republicans aren’t taking the bait. They know that we need to secure our own borders before we start dishing out billions to other nations.

Some Republicans have even expressed skepticism about sending money to Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. And they’re absolutely right to question whether we should be involved in foreign conflicts that have little to do with our own national security.

In the end, it’s unclear whether the standalone bill for Ukraine and Israel funding will pass the Senate, let alone the House. But one thing is clear – our politicians need to start putting America first. We elected them to represent us, not to play global Santa Claus with our hard-earned tax dollars.

It’s time for Congress to get their act together and prioritize the needs of the American people. We need strong borders, a secure nation, and a government that works for us. Let’s hope that our representatives start listening to the voices of the American people and stop playing politics with our national security.
