GOP Plans Tech Revamp to Tackle Biden’s Border Blunders

The Biden administration’s approach to border management has resembled an open-house invitation for illegal immigrants, complete with a high-tech welcome mat. It appears that while the current administration was deploying technology to help hundreds of thousands of unauthorized entrants slip through the cracks, Republican lawmakers, led by Rep. Nancy Mace, have decided it’s time to turn the tables. Mace plans to convene a hearing next week to discuss how cutting-edge technology can be wielded like Captain America’s shield to forcibly evict the criminal aliens that the Democrats have allowed into American communities.

Rep. Mace, who holds dual roles as the Chair of the House Oversight Committee’s cybersecurity and information technology committee and a South Carolina representative, is not mincing words. She accuses the Biden administration of engineering a chaotic border crisis that has left neighborhoods vulnerable to crime. It’s like throwing a big party, inviting everyone without a ticket, and then wondering why the living room looks like a scene from a disaster movie. With the hearing slated for March 4, the focus will be on harnessing the very technology that has been misused to strengthen immigration enforcement and finally put a stop to the chaos created by the open-border policies.

The lineup for the hearing includes a team of experts, including former senior officials from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and notable voices from the Heritage Foundation. They are set to elucidate on how existing technologies can now be repurposed from helping the border-hoppers to spotlighting the need for deportation of those who should not be here in the first place. In what might be the best PR move for the GOP in a while, this hearing aims to explore the myriad high-tech tools that can make communities safer by removing individuals who, quite frankly, should never have been allowed past the front door.

As former President Trump reflects on his successful efforts to curb illegal crossings, it’s evident the frustration lies in the current administration’s handling of those already inside the country. Millions have arrived under Biden’s watch, and the attempts to address the legal status of these individuals have been sluggish at best. The GOP is correct to focus on tech as a potential solution, especially given the recent advancements in artificial intelligence being employed by Homeland Security for various immigration-related tasks.

Interestingly, while the GOP scrambles to turn the tide, the Biden administration has set its sights on technology that conveniently assisted in bringing more unauthorized migrants into the U.S. The infamous CBP One App, once a tool for scheduling arrivals for would-be illegal immigrants, gleefully allowed people to enter the country without proper visas. Now, with Trump having put the brakes on that app, the call to use technology for enforcement, not encouragement, has never been more critical. This is a rare moment where technology can actually serve to restore order rather than facilitate chaos.
