GOP Reps Shatter Leftist Filmmaker’s Bias With Faith-Based Israel Defense!

Public officials who acknowledge their spiritual debt to Israel are always heartening to see, and this was certainly the case on Wednesday when left-leaning journalist Lee Fang shared several videos on social media featuring interviews with federal lawmakers. In those videos, three Republicans and one Democrat expressed their views on Israel, with the Republicans basing their support on biblical grounds.

During the interviews, Fang didn’t shy away from mentioning biblical prophecies that link a Jewish-controlled Jerusalem with the second coming of Christ. Republican Rep. Pete Sessions from Texas fully embraced this biblical context, stating, “This entire matter is based upon faith of our Maker, of our Creator, but it’s also a faith of a chosen people.”

Fang then caught up with Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, who expressed a strong belief in the importance of the U.S.-Israel relationship. Boebert confidently stated, “There have been two nations created to glorify God: Israel and the United States of America.” She pledged to bless and honor both nations and do everything possible to stand up for them. Fang’s response, captured on camera, was an amusing raised eyebrow.

Next on the list was Rep. Tim Burchett of Tennessee, who engaged in a more extensive discussion with Fang. When asked about possible “religious extremism” regarding U.S. support for Israel, Burchett made it clear that he didn’t consider the Baptist or evangelical community to be extreme. He backed up his viewpoint by quoting scripture, saying, “Those who bless Israel will be blessed,” and evidenced his literal interpretation, saying, “I’m one of those people.” Burchett also stated, “I believe Jesus will come back. And I’m gonna be on His side.”

In a second shorter clip, Fang approached Democratic Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina to ask about the situation in Gaza. In a predictable manner, Clyburn deflected the question, stating, “I’m gonna let the president speak for the country,” and dismissing the role of Congress in the matter. The lackluster response left Fang and many users on the social media platform X feeling disappointed and critical of Clyburn’s subservient attitude.

While the article briefly touches on Clyburn’s response, the writer emphasizes the GOP lawmakers’ support for Israel on biblical grounds as the most important aspect of the story. The writer goes on to discuss America’s cultural and spiritual heritage, highlighting the country’s intellectual and cultural connections to ancient Greece and Rome, as well as early modern England. The writer concludes by asserting that America’s spiritual heritage is fundamentally Judeo-Christian.
