Harris Cat-and-Mouse Game Continues Ahead of Potential Trump Debate

The presidential debate circus is gearing up again, and there’s a strong feeling that Democrat Inheritor Kamala Harris would prefer to keep her head down rather than face Donald Trump. The latest from the Harris camp shows a distinct pattern: when it comes to debates, she’s as elusive as a cat at a dog show. However, it appears there’s an idea brewing that could coax her out of hiding, however ridiculous it may seem.

Harris is playing a particularly ironic game when she claims that Trump, having agreed to debate President Emeritus Biden, is thereby obligated to debate her. In the same vein, since Harris graciously vowed to debate Republican vice-presidential nominee JD Vance after a polite chat, calling her out for dodging wouldn’t be too extreme. If she were to back out now, it wouldn’t just be bad optics; it would make her look downright cowardly, which, frankly, is an image she’s been struggling to shake.

Trump recently proposed holding a debate on September 4, airing on Fox News—because, let’s face it, ABC is not exactly known for impartiality. Instead of stepping up, Harris decided to mock him, which means her strategy is less about being on stage and more about working on her stand-up routine. The truth is, if Harris thinks she can slip away without a debate, she might want to reconsider. A dose of absurdity could be exactly what’s needed to get her to engage.

To really bring Harris into the spotlight, one suggestion is to have none other than Barack Obama as the moderator. Imagine the questions: he might cozy up to Harris, asking softballs like her favorite color and then following up with a discussion about her favorite hues. It would be as if they were reminiscing over a coffee rather than moderating a serious political debate. Meanwhile, Trump could be thrown to the wolves with question after question about intricate economic equations that would make any reasonable person’s head spin.

There’s also a recent history to consider. When Biden laid out debate terms that looked like they were straight out of a comedy club routine, Trump accepted the challenge. He walked into what appeared to be a lion’s den, only to show that the lion had lost its bite. While Harris might be slightly sharper than Biden, debating is still not a strong suit for her, especially under the type of structured scrutiny that a typical debate entails.

Ultimately, if Trump decides to accept the ludicrous terms Harris lays out, he could walk into that debate and showcase just how weak her positions really are. It would be an opportunity to fill the room with facts and logic while Harris offers little more than her usual word salad. In the world of ridiculous political theater, this all feels par for the course. Still, the real question is whether the American public will get any genuine substance out of this infotainment extravaganza.
