Vice President Kamala Harris seems to be pulling out all the stops to convince the world that she’s the guardian of border security. This week, her campaign rolled out a shiny new advertisement aptly titled “Tougher.” In this 30-second spectacle, she paints herself as a fierce protector against drug cartels and gang violence. Ironically, the last time anyone saw her on the actual border was… well, no one seems to remember.
The ad touts Harris’s experience as a “border state prosecutor,” where she supposedly tackled the bad guys by jailing gang members and defeating drug smuggling operations. In true dramatic fashion, she claims credit for backing the toughest border control bill in decades. However, any seasoned observer knows that most of these efforts were not solely her doing—many were part of a bipartisan push led by the Biden administration. So much for ownership, right?

Media outlets like NewsNation have pointed fingers at Harris for making what they deem “potentially misleading claims” in her new promotional film. They highlight her time as California’s attorney general, suggesting that her role in fighting the drug lords was more of a fairy tale than a documented triumph. If anyone thought hiring thousands of new border agents is an original Harris initiative, think again—that’s as much her baby as a catfish in a shark tank.
In a classic twist of irony, not only does the ad claim Harris is working with law enforcement to fight fentanyl and human trafficking, but her alleged efforts also tie into a massive governmental operation that involves various agencies. It seems like she’s trying to write the screenplay for a movie where she’s the star, but the supporting cast is nowhere to be found. Perhaps next, we’ll see her give a special thanks to the entire U.S. government in the credits.
The plot thickened when the sheriff of Tulare County, Mike Boudreaux, took to the media and revealed that he was featured in the ad without his consent. His comments were clear: he does not endorse Harris and feels used, calling the misleading portrayal “smoke and mirrors.” It’s almost poetic when a lawman catches a politician in the act of spinning a narrative. The sheriff went so far as to share that Harris ignored him and his colleagues during the filming, proving once again that she may show up when it’s convenient, but friendship isn’t in her repertoire.
Of course, former President Donald Trump didn’t let Harris’s high-flying claims fly unchallenged. He took to Truth Social, declaring that under her stewardship, the border has become the “WORST AND MOST DANGEROUS” it has ever been. If there’s anything Americans can agree on, it’s that Harris and border security is an oxymoron. As the proverbial fall from grace continues for the Biden administration, this latest move by Harris to take the credit for collective efforts appears to be more humorous than powerful. In the grand game of political charades, it seems that Harris’s performance might just be her most entertaining yet.
