The House Committee on Education & the Workforce got the ball rolling on its investigation into antisemitism at Harvard University this week. Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) fired off a scathing letter to Harvard big shots Penny Pritzker and Dr. Alan Garber, demanding answers on how the university is dealing with the toxic antisemitism on its grounds.
The investigation was sparked by former President Claudine Gay’s jaw-dropping testimony, where she suggested that calling for genocide against the Jewish people could be okay if put into context. Yeah, you read that right – Harvard’s former big cheese basically gave a green light to hate speech! The committee ain’t having it, and they’re out for answers.
Foxx’s letter didn’t pull any punches. She slapped Harvard with a laundry list of demands, including all the nitty-gritty details of antisemitic incidents that went down since January 1, 2021. They want the dirt on everything, from attacks on Jewish students to shady communications involving Harvard’s higher-ups. They even want to know if the university’s been cozying up to the BDS movement against Israel. Ain’t no stone left unturned in this investigation!
And just when you think it couldn’t get any worse for Harvard, Foxx dropped the bomb that a report by the AMCHA Initiative found Harvard had the highest rate of threats based on Jewish identity out of 109 campuses surveyed. Ouch! Plus, Harvard’s ex-prez, Claudine Gay, quit her gig after getting called out for plagiarism and mishandling the whole antisemitism mess. Talk about a total meltdown!
So, here’s the bottom line, folks: Harvard’s got some serious explaining to do. The House Committee isn’t playin’ around, and they’re dead set on holding the university’s feet to the fire for its disgraceful mishandling of antisemitism. And mark my words, heads are gonna roll!
