House lawmakers released documents on Wednesday that they say show President Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, lied to Congress about his father’s involvement in his foreign business deals. The documents, provided by IRS whistleblowers, reveal phone records and other evidence indicating that Hunter Biden was in close contact with a Chinese energy company official who sent him $5 million after he mentioned his father, then the vice president.

The House Ways and Means Committee voted along party lines to make the documents public. This vote comes as three House committees are investigating President Biden’s connections to his family’s business deals in China, Ukraine, Russia, and other countries. The released documents conflict with Hunter Biden’s previous testimony denying his father’s involvement in his business operations.
The documents also reveal that Hunter Biden was involved in a business deal with Rosemont Seneca Bohai, a shell company he co-established with business associate Devon Archer. Records show that substantial payments from foreign entities were funneled into this company, including a $3.5 million wire transfer from a Russian oligarch. Additionally, email records indicate that Hunter Biden was directly involved in assisting the CEO of Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company, in resolving a revoked U.S. visa.
These revelations have prompted criticism from Republican lawmakers, with Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith stating that the documents make it clear that Hunter Biden used his father’s name to pressure a Chinese businessman and then lied about it when questioned by Congressional investigators.
The release of these documents coincides with Hunter Biden’s upcoming trials on federal gun charges and tax fraud charges, marking a significant moment in the ongoing investigations into the Biden family’s business dealings.
