U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson has thrown down the gauntlet against CBS, accusing the network of doing a stellar job as the cheerleader for the Biden-Harris administration regarding their lackluster recovery efforts in North Carolina after Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc. With the storm battering the state just two weeks ago, Johnson lays the blame firmly at the feet of leaders who seem more interested in spinning narratives than serving struggling citizens.
During a recent exchange on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” Johnson found himself in a verbal tussle with anchor Margaret Brennan, who pressed him about FEMA’s “different accounting” of disaster resources. Apparently, the term “different accounting” is just a polite way of saying the Biden administration is fumbling the ball while people are left homeless and stranded. Johnson made it clear that citizens in North Carolina were still waiting for the lifeline of the supposed maximum cash support—$750, according to the president—that they had yet to receive. In typical media fashion, CBS opted to omit this essential piece of information from their coverage.
There should be some type of punishment for things such as this. Here Johnson gives his answer but CBS cuts and splices it so it will say what they want it to say. Maybe they should have just given him a script. 🤬 pic.twitter.com/H6FMgmNZIl

In the wake of this encounter, Speaker Johnson took to X (formerly Twitter) to release his own raw footage, revealing the parts of the interview CBS conveniently left on the cutting room floor. He highlighted the dismal reality that funds have been promised but barely trickled down to those in dire need, revealing that only two percent of allocated resources have actually made it to the ground. Unsurprisingly, the administration’s claims about recovery efforts seem more like a mirage than reality, as it turns out the real work is still far from over.
His on-the-ground experience paints a stark picture of desperate residents still grappling with the aftermath of the storm, as roads remain impassable and rescue efforts are ongoing. Johnson’s poignant descriptions of struggling families paint the Biden-Harris duo as more interested in photo ops than actual relief. With the president and vice president “doing the bare minimum,” as one might say, it leaves the impression they’re simply content to allow the media to spin their version of success.
This kind of bias isn’t just a one-off incident. CBS’s reputation with conservatives has steadily worsened, especially in light of Vice President Kamala Harris’s recent interviews that were similarly edited to enhance her image. Reports suggest CBS could soon find itself at the mercy of new ownership, with the Ellison family plotting to take control and steer the network away from its woke philosophy and into some semblance of journalistic integrity. The question remains if they are prepared to put a healthy dose of truth back into the information diet that Americans desperately need.
