Hungary Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is singing praises for former U.S. President Donald Trump, predicting an inevitable Trump victory in the upcoming November election and boldly claiming that such a leadership change would be beneficial for the world at large.
In an interview with Axel Springer media outlets, Orbán went on to heap accolades on Trump, calling him a self-made tycoon with a refreshingly different approach to governance. Oh, the nostalgia for the Trump years! Orbán highlighted Trump’s tenure as a period of unprecedented peace, emphasizing that Trump didn’t start a single war during his four years, a commendable feat considering the geopolitical minefield he inherited.

Orbán didn’t shy away from criticizing the current administration either. The Hungarian leader, perpetually scrutinized for his pro-Russian leaning, lambasted the Biden administration’s handling of the Russia-Ukraine crisis. In his view, Washington’s hawkish policy has left the world in a perpetual state of disarray. Orbán pointed out that while China is out here proposing peace plans, the U.S. seems hell-bent on perpetuating conflict. Europe, he says, is just mimicking America’s aggression rather than charting its own course.
Adding fuel to the fire, Trump reportedly entertained a plan last month aimed at compelling Ukraine into peace negotiations with Russia, signaling approval for the proposal. Talk about a plot twist! Critics might balk at his coziness with Putin, but Orbán dismisses the armchair moralism, arguing that his primary concern is mediating peace. Finger-pointing over who’s to blame for the war, according to him, is just a distraction from the pressing need to find a solution.
