In a recent operation, the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston apprehended a Colombian national residing illegally in the United States, charging him with rape and indecent assault and battery of a minor over 14 years old. According to ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), authorities captured the alleged perpetrator on March 28th, subsequent to his arrest by the United States Border Patrol in Eagle Pass, Texas, for unlawfully crossing the border.
Following the arrest, Border Patrol issued a notification for the Colombian national to appear before a Department of Justice (DOJ) immigration judge. ERO then enrolled the individual into the Alternatives to Detention program. However, despite ERO's efforts to uphold community safety, the Essex County Sheriff’s Department released the accused Colombian national from state custody, disregarding an immigration detainer, despite the pending sex charges involving a minor.

Expressing his dismay at the situation, ERO Boston Field Office Director Todd M. Lyons condemned the alleged offender's actions, emphasizing the gravity of the crime. He underscored ERO Boston's unwavering commitment to prioritizing public safety by diligently pursuing the arrest and removal of unlawfully present child sex predators from New England neighborhoods.
This incident is not isolated, as Townhall previously reported on another distressing case involving an illegal alien charged with various sex crimes, including offenses against children, who was arrested in Massachusetts. ICE notes that this individual unlawfully entered the country and had been arrested multiple times. Furthermore, just weeks before the Colombian national's apprehension, ERO Boston detained a 51-year-old Brazilian fugitive wanted for rape, also living illegally in the United States.
These incidents underscore the ongoing challenges at the nation's borders and the critical need for stricter immigration policies. As communities grapple with these urgent issues, the paramount concern remains the safety and well-being of residents.
