One of the two men from Jordan who tried to break into a military base in Virginia came into the United States illegally, a recent report from a conservative news source stated. The sources from the Department of Homeland Security told Fox News that one of the individuals entered unlawfully through the San Diego sector, while the other overstayed his student visa. This news followed demands from public officials like Governor Glenn Youngkin for more information about the incident.
These two men were taken into ICE custody after the Marines caught them attempting to enter the Quantico Marine base. They arrived at the base’s gate in a truck, falsely claiming to be Amazon contractors making a delivery to the post office. When questioned and asked to go through standard vetting procedures, they tried to bypass security measures, leading to their detention.
Captain Michael Curtis, a spokesperson for the base, mentioned that actions were taken to ensure the safety of those at the base. Thankfully, there were no indications of the incident being related to terrorism, and the men did not have prior criminal records in the U.S. Despite this, their identities remain undisclosed for privacy reasons, and they are awaiting deportation proceedings while in ICE custody.
