In a shocking display of disrespect towards America and its law enforcement, one of the migrants charged with attacking two NYPD officers in Times Square gave the finger to photographers after leaving court. This brazen act came after the suspect was released back onto the streets, thanks to New York’s bail reform laws that prioritize criminals over public safety. It’s a clear symbol of how both our immigration and criminal justice systems have been completely broken under Democrat rule.

The suspects were arraigned on charges of second-degree assault on a police officer and obstruction of governmental administration, according to the New York Post. But thanks to the soft-on-crime approach of Manhattan district attorney Alvin Bragg and his reluctance to prosecute criminals, these migrants are already back on the streets. And with three suspects still at large, it’s clear that our immigration system is failing to keep dangerous individuals off our streets.
This attack on the police officers is just another consequence of the Biden administration’s open-borders agenda. Times Square, known as the Crossroads of the World, now takes on a not-so-positive meaning. And it’s all because of the catch-and-release policies that New York has implemented in the name of social justice. Rather than deporting illegal immigrants charged with violent crimes, they are being released back into our communities, posing a threat to public safety.
The chaos at the border is a direct result of a failure to enforce existing laws and the easy exploitation of the lax asylum process. It’s outrageous that someone can move to another country, commit a violent crime, and then have the audacity to flip off the media as they leave court. This is an epidemic that police officers are facing, as highlighted by NYPD union president Patrick Hendry. The revolving door of criminals in our justice system needs to stop, and it’s time for Democrats to prioritize the safety of American citizens over political agendas.
Even New York Governor Kathy Hochul seems to recognize the need to address this issue. She stated that it’s worth checking into the immigration status of those who commit crimes against police officers in the state. But congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis, a Republican representing Staten Island, takes a stronger stance. She believes that if you commit a crime in this city, regardless of your immigration status, you should never have a chance to become a part of our citizenry.
It’s clear that something needs to change. We can’t continue to prioritize the well-being of criminals over the safety of our communities. It’s time for Democrats to wake up and address the failures of their policies. Our law enforcement officers deserve better, and the American people deserve better.
