The immigration debate has reached a level of absurdity that would make anyone question the reality of the situation. On one hand, there’s an ongoing parade of individuals who brazenly ignore immigration laws, and on the other, we have a President-elect who, heavens forbid, dares to suggest he might actually enforce them. This bizarre juxtaposition speaks volumes about the warped priorities in today’s political climate.
For some reason, it has become the acceptable norm to disregard laws designed to maintain order and security in the nation. This is the same set of laws that millions of law-abiding citizens follow daily, yet somehow, the act of flouting these rules has been normalized. When it comes to the upcoming Trump administration, however, the mere mention of enforcing these often-ignored regulations sends shivers down the spines of political elites and open-border advocates alike. Instead of applauding a return to law and order, their immediate response is to cry foul and label it as a “threat” to society.

Is it not ironic that when a leader proposes to uphold the law, it’s treated as an extremist action, while lawlessness seems to wax poetic in the media narrative? The same folks who bemoan the chaos of unregulated immigration are the first to clutch their pearls when someone suggests putting a stop to it. This double standard exposes a glaring hypocrisy that many are starting to see through as they realize that chaos isn’t a sustainable policy.
The idea that wanting to secure the borders and ensure everyone is in this country legally is somehow an offensive idea speaks volumes about the state of liberal thinking. It’s as if they believe that the rules don’t apply to certain groups of people, and that illegality should just be accepted as part of the new normal. Yet when a leader proposes enforcing the rules that are already on the books, it triggers a near hysteria among those whose political careers depend on keeping the immigration floodgates wide open.
In the midst of this twisted logic, it is refreshing to see a figure like President-elect Trump willing to take on the political correctness that has permeated the immigration discussion. While lawmakers have largely chosen to ignore the laws they’re supposed to uphold, he brings back a sense of accountability that many Americans have been yearning for. It’s time to abandon the manufactured outrage and refocus on the importance of lawfulness—something that remains a cornerstone of any functioning society. Whether it’s through common sense policies or stricter enforcement, it’s clear that having a commitment to law and order is no laughing matter.
