In the ever-raging debate about American involvement in Venezuela, the hypocritical left is howling once again, claiming that America’s actions are all about oil. Really? Isn’t it time to put that tired narrative to bed? Venezuela, under the disastrous leadership of Chavez and Maduro, turned oil-rich into a wasteland. So much for getting oil-rich on their watch. America’s involvement turned out to be as bloodless as you can get while taking down a narco-terrorist who was, quite frankly, a political ticking time bomb threatening the stability of the Americas. Yet here come the Democrats, doing a song and dance about oil, ignoring the massive geopolitical win.
When one of our own, Rep. Thomas Massie, decides to parrot this nonsense, it’s a real head-scratcher. Are we supposed to buy into the notion that this intricate operation was merely about black gold? Massie should be asking, if we’re only interested in oil, why were Russia and China so keen on getting their fangs into Venezuela? Do globalist lobbyists have such a heavy influence that they can’t even see the strategic play that just happened? Or is it just more convenient to bash Trump, regardless of the truth?
“If Trump needs that oil to give us freedom, then that’s the price we’re willing to pay.”

While the left wrings its hands, the people who know better—Venezuelan exiles—are dancing in the streets of Buenos Aires. Thousands gathered to celebrate Maduro’s capture. These freedom-starved folks seem to understand what entrenched politicians in Washington have a hard time grasping: America’s aim isn’t just to fill up oil barrels. Instead, it’s to restore democracy and dismantle tyrannical regimes that make a mockery of human rights. Our critics apparently believe that the U.S. wants nothing more than to hoard oil, but they should ask themselves: What were Russia and China after? A cookbook for Venezuelan snacks?
The Chinese and Russians had their reasons, none of which involved sharing recipes. China needs oil to fuel its unreliable partners, and Russia’s economy relies heavily on inflated oil prices. If Venezuelan oil production were to revamp and stabilize, both of these powerhouses would find themselves at a disadvantage. So which world order are progressive dreamers cheering for? A Russia-backed dictatorship or a China-led coalition suppressing freedom under its communist thumb?
The real question is simple: Would you rather a democratic nation like the U.S. take charge, or would you prefer the world to dance to the tune of dictators? America throws the gauntlet down to its critics, challenging them to choose. Anyone who struggles to answer isn’t living up to the title “progressive” or “America first.” They’re just letting authoritarian thugs take the driver’s seat while pandering to the enemies of true freedom.
