The U.S. Army’s new recruitment video is causing quite a stir, and not in a good way. This video, which showcases a group of predominantly white males, is a far cry from the Army’s recent efforts to promote diversity and inclusiveness. It seems like they went from celebrating all walks of life to just focusing on the same old traditional images of military might.

Let’s be clear, diversity is a great thing. It brings different perspectives and experiences to the table, which can only make our military stronger. But it seems like the Army has forgotten that. Instead of showcasing the diverse backgrounds and family dynamics of its personnel, this video just shows a bunch of white guys. It’s a missed opportunity, to say the least.
And it’s not just everyday people who are noticing this blunder. Even tech mogul Elon Musk couldn’t help but say “Uh-oh” when he saw the all-white lineup. And others are warning Gen Z that they could be the ones facing a potential draft in the future. They’re connecting the lack of diversity in this video to the political decisions and voting patterns that could impact their lives. It’s a wake-up call for sure.
In the end, this video is a prime example of missed priorities. Instead of celebrating diversity and inclusiveness, the Army has fallen back on tired stereotypes and homogeneous portrayals. It’s a disappointing turn of events, and one that we hope they learn from moving forward. Our military should be a reflection of our nation as a whole, not just one segment of the population.
