House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) is at it again, spewing more wild claims about former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party. During an appearance on ABC’s The View, Jeffries suggested that Trump sees himself as a “Putin-esque” figure, comparing him to the Russian president. Not only that, Jeffries also alleged that a growing number of Republicans are becoming sympathetic to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Co-host Joy Behar, who seems to have a never-ending appetite for making baseless accusations, insinuated that Trump has always admired Putin. She then asked Jeffries what he thinks Putin “has” on the former president. Jumping on the bandwagon of far-fetched theories, Jeffries claimed, “I actually think that Donald Trump views himself as a Putin-esque dictatorial figure. He said it! And we should believe him that he wants to go down this road.”
But Jeffries didn’t stop there. He went on to make outrageous claims about the Republican Party, alleging that there’s a growing sympathy for Putin among its members, all led by Trump. Jeffries even had the audacity to drag other public figures into his conspiracy, including former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson, Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH), and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA). He accused them of contributing to the so-called sympathy movement toward Putin.
In a feeble attempt to strengthen his argument, Jeffries emphasized the importance of standing by Ukraine, framing it as a matter of national security. He insisted that supporting Ukraine should be a bipartisan effort. It’s as if he didn’t get the memo that bipartisan efforts are rare unicorns in today’s political landscape.
Jeffries’ fanciful comments about Trump stem from a town hall in December, where the former president joked about not being a dictator, except for his first day back in office. Trump later clarified his remarks, making it clear that he was not actually serious about being a dictator. But of course, Jeffries and his pals conveniently ignored this clarification.
The Biden administration, not missing an opportunity to criticize Trump, pounced on these remarks. Vice President Kamala Harris even encouraged people to “believe” Trump’s comments about being a dictator. It seems the obsession with bashing Trump knows no bounds.
At the end of the day, Jeffries and his fellow Democrats are just recycling the same old tired narrative about Trump and the Republican Party. It’s not about facts or truth; it’s about pushing their agenda by any means necessary. For them, reality is just a pesky inconvenience standing in the way of their political grandstanding.
