Kamala Harris Accused of Copying Trump on No Taxes on Tips Plan

Vice President Kamala Harris has once again shown a spectacular lack of originality, and this time it seems she took a page right out of former President Donald Trump’s playbook. In an audacious display of policy recycling, Harris recently proposed eliminating federal taxes on tips, a move she apparently concocted just two months after Trump made a similar announcement during his own rally in Las Vegas. It seems it’s not just policy that Harris is lifting; she has also borrowed the art of plagiarism from none other than Joe Biden himself.

Civil rights attorney Leo Terrell didn’t hold back in his assessment of the situation. He pointed out the glaring similarity between Harris’s new proposal and Trump’s earlier announcement, claiming that she shamelessly copied the idea. While many Americans may have missed the timeline of events, Terrell emphasized that Trump was the pioneer of this concept, and Harris should be embarrassed for not giving credit where it’s due. But in the world of politics, shame appears to be a scarce commodity, especially for Democrats.

Adding to the irony, just weeks before Harris’s announcement, the Biden administration had been offering tax guidance centered around—ironically—taxing tips. It seems that while the administration was busy cooking up plans to squeeze more tax dollars out of hardworking Americans, Harris noticed the political winds shifting and decided to hop on the “no taxes on tips” bandwagon. One has to wonder if this is a genuine shift in ideology or simply an opportunistic maneuver to look good during a campaign.

Terrell also couldn’t resist a jab at Biden’s checkered history with plagiarism. After all, Biden’s 1988 presidential aspirations came crashing down when it was revealed that he borrowed from a British politician without giving proper credit. In what should have been a sobering moment, he has consistently failed to escape the shadow of his past missteps. If being a copycat was an Olympic event, it wouldn’t be surprising to find Harris and Biden on the winner’s podium, medals in hand.

The crux of Terrell’s argument centers on a fundamental truth that many Americans recognize: for Democrats, the ideology of raising taxes is a core tenet. While Harris attempts to don the cloak of a tax-cutter, her party’s legacy is far from supportive of such a narrative. For average citizens, the contrast couldn’t be clearer—Republicans strive to lighten their tax burden, while Democrats seem intent on making the tax code even more complex and burdensome.
