The latest episode in this never-ending saga of Democratic turmoil revolves around Vice President Kamala Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who has been taking hits from all sides lately. His selection has not just been a blessing but rather an albatross for the Harris campaign, making one wonder if the Democrats are due for a huge wake-up call.
Walz doesn’t exactly have the glossiest résumé. Under his watch, Minnesota became renowned not for its scenic beauty but for turning into a bonfire during the riots of 2020. Thanks to his far-left policies, the only thing more burned than the cities was his credibility; that might explain why he thought it wise to embellish his military background. How did that work out for him? Spoiler alert: not well.

As if that weren’t enough to tarnish Harris’ already tarnished ticket, Walz’s own family has decided to publicly endorse none other than Donald Trump, putting a cherry of irony on a giant, melting sundae of Democratic disappointment. The image circulated online shows Walz’s relatives decked out in custom “WALZ’S FOR TRUMP” T-shirts sporting a Trump flag, which probably wasn’t the kind of family support his campaign needed. If this fiasco were a sitcom, it would be titled “The Walz Side of Politics.”
This turn of events is a monumental setback for the Harris-Walz campaign, which was already gasping for air under the weight of its leftist agenda and Walz’s mishaps. Not only is it a smirk-inducing snub from his kin, but it also serves up an eye-roll-worthy question: “What kind of candidate has family members endorsing the opposing side?” It’s a disaster on multiple levels when even family doesn’t want to get in the same canoe, much less row the boat for him.
The photo in question—shared far and wide—was initially the brainchild of none other than Charlie Kirk from Turning Point USA. The fact that this particular image is being attributed to “family relations” from way back and shared by a family friend only adds salt to the already festering wound. The Trump campaign didn’t need to orchestrate a family endorsement; they got one handed to them on a silver platter, served with a side of family disapproval for Walz.
A candidate’s family can tell a lot about their character. The Harris-Walz pairing, already limping along under the weight of a history filled with riots and words that do not match actions, just caught an unexpected curveball. Suppose one of their leading candidates cannot even hold on to the support of his own family amidst a national election. In that case, it raises significant doubts about how he might fare with the general public. Harris and Walz, brace yourselves—2024 may not be as friendly as you anticipated.
