Kamala Harris continues her grand performance of political gymnastics, demonstrating remarkable flexibility in her ability to flip-flop on key issues. It seems, however, that the Veep’s talent for changing her mind has yet to capture the spotlight this election cycle, much to the chagrin of her critics and fans alike. A recent resurgence of a 2019 video has sparked chatter about her past stances, and as the election approaches, every conservative can bet on her twisting and turning with the agility of an Olympic gymnast.
In her early forays into the political arena, Harris was keen to jump on the reparations bandwagon, embracing that oh-so-popular leftist demand with gusto. But in a striking display of indecision, the Vice President has gone completely radio silent on the matter as she gears up for a 2024 run. The Vice President is arguably the “say anything” candidate. The real comedy of the situation lies in her past antics, like the eyebrow-raising appearance at a South Carolina barbershop in 2019, where she sought street cred from the likes of rapper Uncle Luke. One of the barbershop patrons urged her to draft special laws for the black community, to which Harris enthusiastically nodded in agreement. A thought-provoking suggestion for legal apartheid, perhaps?
With her penchant for agreeing with whoever she speaks to, whether out of a lack of conviction or sheer opportunism, Harris’s readiness to slide into consensus raises a red flag. It’s hard for voters to find comfort in the idea of her leading a nation when her foundational beliefs are about as stable as quicksand. If her outright agreement with controversial policies is any indication, she lacks the mettle required for decisive leadership.
As the media continues to give her a pass on these matters, one can only imagine that it won’t be long before her next flip-flop becomes the stuff of headlines. With two months to go until the election, the odds are high that voters will witness an encore performance of Kamala Harris, the political chameleon, reshaping her views once more in response to whatever suits her public persona at that moment. Nothing says “presidential” quite like a politician who can’t seem to take a stand—unless, of course, that stand includes a strong belief in chasing popular opinion like a dog chasing its tail.
