Emerging from her overproduced campaign cocoon, she took to the stage recently. She treated Americans to yet another round of her famous *word salads*—a term that might just as easily refer to her off-the-cuff remarks as it does to a dish found at a vegan potluck. This time, Harris was unrestrained, leaving audiences to wonder if she’d attempted to juggle a bottle of tequila before stepping into the spotlight.
Typically, Harris has been sheltered from the real world, confined to meticulously staged events where she can stick to her script and avoid any accidental revelations of her more chaotic self. Harris spoke at length about hard work, teamwork, and a peculiar notion that one can be undefeated spiritually irrespective of wins on the field. This approach would be more suitable for a participation trophy convention than a motivational speech, leaving the audience to wonder if she was aware that the goal of sports is, in fact, to win. This isn’t a new error for Harris; she previously made headlines for an equally misguided attempt to inspire at a struggling college team, leading many to question who thought she was fit to take on such a role.
Ultimately, what emerged from this performance was the true Kamala Harris, stripped of her protective layers of scripted dialogue. This is the woman who circles the same points without landing anywhere of substance. The struggle to find clarity and coherence during her off-the-cuff moments provides a glimpse into the reality of her political persona—a semblance of preparedness that turns out to be nothing more than an act.
