Kamala Harris to Supreme Court Sparks Outrage in Conservative Circles

Kamala Harris, the vice president who seems to have mastered the art of overexposure, might just be on her way to the Supreme Court. This revelation comes from a rather outlandish suggestion by Bakari Sellers, a former South Carolina State Representative and CNN commentator. He proposed that President Biden should nominate Harris to the highest court before he exits stage left. Of course, this raises numerous eyebrows and chuckles among those who are all too familiar with Harris’ track record—or rather, the lack thereof.

Harris has become a polarizing figure, reminiscent of an unpleasant guest who just won’t leave the party. Despite her being promoted as a beacon of joy by her supporters, she has largely come off as aloof and somewhat combative during interviews. With a resume that can only be described as underwhelming, many voters are left scratching their heads, wondering how she ever rose to prominence in the first place. One might hope that once her vice presidential term concluded, the country could collectively exhale, but it seems that Harris refuses to exit gracefully.

Amidst the chatter, one can almost hear a faint whimper of desperation from certain corners of the Democratic Party. Some Democrats are rumored to be wishing for Harris’s elevation to the presidency should Biden decide to step down, as if that would somehow salvage their crumbling coalition. However, nobody seems to be clapping at the idea of her taking over the Supreme Court. Sellers’ claim of her having a “legal pedigree” is as laughable as suggesting a cat should perform surgery. If Harris’s handling of the vice presidency is any indication, one might wonder how she’d fare with the gavel in hand.

The idea of Harris on the Supreme Court has garnered a mix of horror and amusement from conservative circles. The left’s fear is palpable, particularly with Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s health hanging in the balance. Many Democrats are secretly tussling with the thought of Sotomayor retiring, hoping to install a younger face—perhaps Harris, if Sellers has his way. However, given the current uproar over her opinions (or lack thereof), the thought of Harris writing Supreme Court opinions is akin to giving a toddler a box of crayons and expecting a masterpiece.

Interestingly, not all Democrats seem to be on board with the idea of replacing Sotomayor. Progressive voices are pushing back against calls for her retirement, arguing that such discussions veer into ableism. This indicates a slight fracture within the Democratic facade, suggesting that even they realize nominating Harris might not be the most intelligent move. The consensus among some is that Sotomayor can stick it out on the bench until she feels ready to leave, whether that’s this year or in another decade.

While Harris’s potential promotion could very well be an exercise in futility, one thing remains clear: the Democratic party’s internal strife is boiling. The prospect of Harris taking a seat at the Supreme Court adds a hefty dose of irony to the mix. In the end, if anything could be gleaned from the current Democratic circus, it is the comic relief provided by the outrageous suggestions coming from their ranks. The question lingers: will the left actually consider this absurd notion, or are they just throwing ideas out to see what sticks?
