The ineptitude of Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has reached a level that even the most seasoned political critics are struggling to comprehend. While many politicians have their strengths and weaknesses, Bass seems to be showcasing nothing but weaknesses, all wrapped in a nice package of political blunders. In a city where crime and chaos are mounting, residents are wondering whether their mayor is even aware of the pressing issues at hand, such as rampant homelessness, soaring crime rates, and a rolling back of law enforcement efforts.
Bass’s administration has been a masterclass in mismanagement, leaving Angelenos to face the consequences of her choices. As soaring crime rates turn neighborhoods into no-go zones, her solutions seem to be more about Twitter hashtags than actual action. Instead of policing the streets, it seems she’s made it her mission to police thoughts and feelings. Cracking down on crime could have been a priority, but perhaps that doesn’t earn the “woke” points so favored by today’s progressive playbook.

As Bass takes the reins of leadership, accountability appears to be hiding in the shadows. To put it lightly, competence is not her strong suit. If there’s one thing Bass has proven in her time in office, it’s that the only thing she excels at is deflecting blame. A true master of evasion, she spins problematic situations as the work of others, though the evidence points squarely at her.
The crying need for achievement in her administration is eclipsed by poor management and outlandish policy proposals that seem more suited for a college campus than a bustling metropolis. As constituents demand solutions for their deteriorating neighborhoods, Bass is busy championing impractical initiatives that have little to no impact on the day-to-day lives of the people she swore to serve. It’s almost as if she’s pulled a page from the playbook of significant political failures, where good intentions supplant tangible results.
In this grand theater of urban governance, it’s crucial to apply an equal measure of assessment to Bass’s administration as one would for any politician. Praise should be given where it’s due, but accountability is the name of the game. That means it’s time for a serious reckoning for those leading Los Angeles. Instead of turning a blind eye to the ridiculousness of it all, citizens deserve transparency and action. After all, the most pressing question remains—when will Bass actually take charge and start addressing the good, the bad, and the downright ugly?
