Republican Senate candidate Kari Lake wasted no time in throwing her support behind Blake Masters’s GOP primary opponent after Masters announced his run for Arizona’s 8th District. Lake, in a press release, eagerly endorsed Abe Hamadeh, praising his local ties and dedication to the community. “Abe lived and went to three schools in the district, and he’s running for Congress in Arizona’s 8th District to give back to the community that made him the man he is today. I’m proud to call Abe a friend, and honored to give him my endorsement for the United States Congress,” Lake declared.
The political landscape in Arizona has been heating up, with rumors circulating in September that Lake and Masters would be going head-to-head for the Republican nomination for the Senate seat currently held by Democrat-turned-Independent, Krysten Sinema. Unbeknownst to the public, it appears that former President Donald Trump had his finger on the scale, allegedly advising Masters that he would not stand a chance against Lake. The New York Times claims to have inside information on the matter, revealing Trump’s interference in the race.
While Lake and Masters may now find themselves on opposing sides, they do share a history of cooperation and campaigning together. During Lake’s race for governor and Masters’s bid for the Senate in 2022, the duo frequently appeared side by side at various events. And let’s not forget about Hamadeh, who also joined forces with Lake and Masters during his campaign for Attorney General. Trump wasted no time in endorsing Lake when she threw her hat into the Senate race, although he has yet to show his cards for Arizona’s 8th District.

With Hamadeh now added into the mix, the race for Arizona’s 8th District has become even more crowded. Masters was already facing off against State Senator Anthony Kern for the seat set to be vacated by retiring Congresswoman Debbie Lesko. It seems that the fight for the nomination will be a fierce one, with each candidate vying for the chance to represent their party in the upcoming election.
