Karoline Leavitt Schools CNN’s Collins on Biden’s Dubious Autopen Pardons

Kaitlan Collins of CNN discovered that playing rhetorical ping-pong with Karoline Leavitt is a surefire way to get some serious smackdown action. When Collins tried to poke fun at President Donald Trump’s assertion regarding Joe Biden’s questionable use of an autopen for last-minute pardons, Leavitt, Trump’s press secretary, swiftly flipped the script. It was almost as if there was a competition for who could make the other look worse, and Leavitt was definitely winning.

During a press conference, Collins couldn’t hold back from questioning the legitimacy of Trump’s claims that Biden may have not even been aware of the pardons he signed. Leavitt, refusing to let the matter slide, promptly challenged Collins to dig deeper into the issues at hand instead of trying to wave away Trump’s concerns. The underlying question that needed answering was whether Biden was mentally alert enough to even know what was happening while he was merrily pardon-ing his way through his final days in office.

When Collins pressed for proof that Trump’s assertion was flawed, Leavitt didn’t skip a beat. Instead of dancing around the question like other political figures might, she shot back with a pointed inquiry of her own. “Is there any evidence that he wasn’t aware of it?” she asked, reminding Collins that, as a journalist, investigating such claims was literally her job. Ouch! That had to sting—being told to work by someone used to engaging with the press.

This exchange sparked a broader discussion about the legitimacy of Biden’s pardons and whether they even hold water. Reports are swirling around suggesting that Biden’s signature on several key documents during his presidency was likely a product of an autopen’s mechanized magic rather than a personal stroke of genius. Among those who were beneficiaries of these so-called pardons were none other than Hunter Biden, former Representative Liz Cheney, and various members of the now-defunct January 6th Committee. A veritable who’s who of individuals connected in one way or another to political controversies.

Meanwhile, the White House has been less than forthcoming about whether Biden was physically or cognitively present during the pardoning process. Trump has made it very clear that any pardons signed via an autopen should be considered null and void. He cut through the fog with a concise declaration on Truth Social, stating that these pardons were effectively meaningless since they weren’t executed with Biden’s explicit awareness or approval. It really raises an eyebrow over whether recent actions taken by the Biden administration can withstand scrutiny.

With the backdrop of this drama, even the Heritage Foundation’s Oversight Project is reporting that virtually every significant document signed by Biden in his last year was done with the help of an autopen. The only apparent exception was his letter announcing withdrawals from the 2024 race. Then there’s House Speaker Mike Johnson, recounting an unsettling conversation he had with Biden regarding an executive order restricting liquefied natural gas imports, where Biden apparently denied even issuing the order. A shocking revelation, to say the least!

While autopens are a tool for efficiency, their potential misuse in signing crucial documents like pardons paints a grim picture about the ethical standards expected from the highest office in the land. If it turns out that Biden’s aides have been keeping his cognitive decline under wraps just to push their radical agenda, it raises not just eyebrows, but a whole storm of questions about the legitimacy of his administration as a whole. Ultimately, this entire saga has highlighted the importance of being fully aware and coherent when handling significant matters—a lesson Biden might want to grasp sooner rather than later.
