The latest episode in the grand theater that is American politics showcases the Left’s unyielding refusal to acknowledge reality, particularly when it comes to Donald Trump’s comprehensive victory in the 2024 election. Despite what they might scream about “defending democracy,” it becomes evident that their respect for election results hinges solely on winning. This time, however, they’ve taken their delusions to a new level, claiming their favored candidate, Kamala Harris, somehow wasn’t beaten soundly enough to be legitimate.
In truth, Trump didn’t just secure the typical Electoral College win; he also took home the popular vote, becoming the first Republican to do so since George W. Bush in 2004. Yet despite these clear electoral successes, the Left is clinging desperately to convoluted and misguided theories that suggest he didn’t actually “win” anything at all. The waters are muddy as leftists weave their patterns of denial, as they have done since 1988 after the GOP won. Whether it was Al Gore’s tantrum in 2000 or Hillary Clinton’s cries of conspiracy in 2016, their trend is crystal clear: when their candidate loses, they grasp at straws and ignore accountability.
Michael Podhorzer, a former AFL-CIO operative, has recently emerged as the poster child for this inability to cope. In a drawn-out and rather amusingly desperate piece on his Substack, he insists that Trump’s win isn’t legitimate. It’s a testament to the Left’s creativity, as he tries to rework the narrative by claiming that Trump’s success can only be chalked up to the justices he appointed or a mere lack of enthusiasm for Kamala Harris. In essence, Podhorzer believes the popular vote represented more of a “no confidence” vote against Harris than any actual support for Trump.
To add to the farce, Podhorzer even argues that fewer Democrats showed up to the polls due to their diminishing fears of Trump. Apparently, if people don’t show up to vote against a candidate, that somehow translates into an ideological “win” for the opposing side. He proposed that 19 million Biden voters from 2020 found other ways to spend their Tuesday rather than fighting Trump’s alleged reign. A curious logic, for sure; it’s as if he thinks voters who decide to take the day off are magically invalidating their opponents’ victory.
Let's keep the illegals and deport the leftoids.

Even the staunchest liberal data expert, Nate Silver, had a field day dismantling Podhorzer’s elaborate arguments in a mere tweet. In a political landscape that expects thorough reasoning, it’s astonishing that the Left continues to trot out tales of a phantom popular voter base that never showed up while denying the reality of Trump’s unwavering support. The simple truth is that Trump’s vote totals have risen steadily over three elections, countering any flimsy assertion suggesting he wasn’t beloved in 2024.
The Left has shown time and again that its narrative crumbles under scrutiny, and the 2024 results are a powerful testament to that reality. Until they can manage to peel themselves away from the cocoon of misinformation, their credibility will continue to erode faster than their hopes of reclaiming the presidency. In the meantime, Trump’s victory stands as a monumental repudiation of their blatant denial, shining a spotlight on the inherent absurdity within the Left’s refusal to accept defeat.
