It seems that instead of engaging with the significant issues facing our nation, many are more interested in trivial matters like what to wear at the beach or their daily Starbucks order. This casual disregard for substantive topics raises alarm about the current state of civic knowledge and responsibility in America.
One of the most glaring moments came when a young woman jokingly pondered the most pressing issue for her: deciding which bikini to wear and whether to get a tan at the beach. It’s hard to believe that in a country grappling with serious problems—from skyrocketing inflation to geopolitical tensions—such frivolities can occupy one’s thoughts. This example reflects a broader trend where meaningful discussions about our future are overshadowed by shallow considerations.
As these youths continued to struggle with even basic questions about current events, they showed little awareness of significant world leaders and the implications of their actions.
