Liberal politicians just can’t help themselves. They see free speech, and their first instinct is to muzzle it—especially when it doesn’t fit their woke agenda. From Detroit’s city hall to the busy streets of New York, Democrats are scrambling to shut down voices they don’t like, all in the name of “safety.” What are they really afraid of? Americans speaking up, loud and clear.
Look at Detroit. Instead of tackling real problems — like crime, failing schools, or corruption — their leaders are obsessed with stopping pro-life advocates through creating so-called “buffer zones” around abortion clinics. Why? Because the city’s own lawyer apparently couldn’t even get basic Supreme Court law right. Now Detroit faces lawsuits they probably won’t win, wasting taxpayer money all to silence people praying or offering information on public sidewalks.

But the free speech crackdown doesn’t end there. New York’s politicians are taking things even further. New bills there threaten to create whole sections of the city, including iconic spots like Times Square, where freedom of expression goes to die. Big government wants to turn America’s crossroads into a speech-free wasteland, just to control the narrative and spare the feelings of its radical base.
And Governor Hochul? She’s not even hiding her agenda. She wants to ban protests if they so much as “alarm or annoy.” Since when did the Constitution come with a feelings-based exception? Apparently, our nation’s most sacred rights are nothing but a punchline to Democrats—if your opinion dares to upset the liberal mob.
Liberals preach about tolerance, but their actions scream censorship. Instead of defending American freedoms, they run straight to the rulebook—rewriting the rules however they see fit. If the First Amendment bothers them this much, maybe they’re in the wrong country. Remember: it’s not about safety—it’s about control. Who will stand up when activists in power decide your speech is the next target?
