It’s almost comical how quickly the Left forgets its own standards when the political winds shift. Suddenly, when Olympic hockey champions stand with President Trump, the liberal rage machine acts as if the very idea of visiting the White House is some sort of betrayal. For years, these same leftists preached about unity and respect—when their guy was in office, of course. Now it’s nothing but screaming, pearl-clutching, and desperate calls for “resistance.”
The mental gymnastics are Olympic-level. Back when a Boston Bruins goalie chose not to attend an event at the Obama White House, the media and Democrat mouthpieces threw a fit. They called his absence divisive and hyper-partisan. They insisted that skipping a White House invite was an insult—not just to the President, but to the country itself. Just show up, they said, set politics aside, and celebrate together.

Fast forward to today, and all of that goes right out the window. Now, if the hockey team dares to accept an invitation from President Trump—and gets honored at the State of the Union, with the goalie receiving the nation’s highest civilian award—the Left erupts. Suddenly, it’s not about respect or unity anymore. It’s about rejecting anything associated with Trump, no matter how many Americans cheer these athletes on.
This is what liberals do best: shift the rules to fit their agenda. When a Democrat is calling the shots, it’s considered patriotic to show up and smile for the cameras. But the minute someone they despise sits in the Oval Office, refusing an invite becomes celebrated “resistance.” Their duplicity knows no bounds. For them, everything is a weapon in the culture war—even something as pure as honoring American athletes.
Meanwhile, the men’s hockey team does what true patriots do. They rise above the noise, celebrate their victory, and graciously accept the nation’s gratitude—no matter who occupies the White House. Maybe that’s what really burns the Left the most: seeing Americans come together, even when it doesn’t fit their divisive narrative.
Remind anyone else of a spoiled kid who tosses the game board every time they start losing? That’s liberal “principle” for you.
