New Mexico’s liberal politicians are hard at work trying to shove another radical gun ban down the throats of law-abiding Americans. They’re not just pushing for an “assault weapon” ban—this bill would treat nearly every semi-automatic rifle as some kind of criminal tool. It’s the kind of power grab anti-gun leftists dream about…but even some of their own gun control allies are starting to sound the alarm.
Let’s be crystal clear. This bill doesn’t just go after scary-looking AR-15s. It goes way beyond that. If the left got its way, anyone owning a semi-automatic rifle—meaning millions of Americans who have done absolutely nothing wrong—would suddenly find themselves in the crosshairs of the government, all because a few politicians want to look “tough” on crime. It’s not even clear that any of this would stop criminals who never follow the law anyway. Typical liberal logic: Punish good citizens. Pretend criminals will care.

Even the head of New Mexico’s top gun control group is calling the bill a disaster waiting to happen. When diehard anti-gun campaigners are warning the left that their bill is “legally vulnerable,” you know it’s bad. These people finally realize what conservatives have been saying for years—this kind of overreach is a guaranteed loser in court. After the Supreme Court’s recent rulings, it’s obvious there’s zero foundation for such sweeping gun bans in our Constitution or our history.
Here’s the kicker: every time liberals try to ban guns, all they do is spike sales. It happens like clockwork. The 1990s so-called “assault weapon” ban turned the AR-15 from a niche rifle into the most popular long gun in America. People see the government coming to take their rights, and suddenly, everyone wants to buy the very thing politicians tell them they can’t have. Americans aren’t stupid. When freedom is threatened, they act.
Instead of protecting citizens and upholding the Constitution, the left would rather chase headlines and turn regular gun owners into criminals overnight. It’s pure anti-American nonsense. They posture about “safety” while ignoring actual solutions. Maybe if these politicians started focusing on criminals, not law-abiding folks, our country would be a lot safer. Until then, maybe their own gun control friends should keep reminding them how reckless and un-American these schemes really are. How many times do liberals have to get burned before they figure out Americans won’t surrender their rights without a fight?
