The Trump administration has once again shown just how strong America can be in the face of adversity—but not without those pesky liberals trying to undermine it at every turn. Recently, they took a hardline stance against foreign students spewing anti-Israel propaganda, a stance that should have been a no-brainer for anyone who’s got America’s best interests at heart. But once the lawsuits started piling on, the administration, under pressure from leftist judges and their activist pals, had to dial back this sensible policy. Unfortunate, but not unexpected, given the predictable double standards of what the left will fight to the death for.
These student visa holders were often engaged in protests that are sharply critical of the only real democracy in the Middle East—Israel. Now, I ask you: why would anyone who supports America’s values feel comfortable supporting agendas that undermine our allies? But of course, to the liberal elites sitting comfortably in their ivory towers, such logic doesn’t apply. They’d rather coddle these individuals who’ve barely experienced anything yet label Israel, our ally, an enemy.
But naturally, liberals have made it their job to make this about “free speech.” Isn’t it ironic how the left always chooses to champion this right whenever convenient, but dare a conservative voice arise on campus and it’s shut down in a heartbeat? And while the administration was trying to secure our nation by ensuring those who lob baseless, harmful rhetoric against Israel were scrutinized, the liberal mob lost their minds. They’d rather have our country compromised than risk appearing intolerant, even to those who might have questionable allegiances.

Even the students with mere infractions like traffic violations ended up under the microscope. There’s talks about some leaving voluntarily, self-deporting out of sheer panic. That’s perhaps the most responsible thing they’ve done since they came here, but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves. The backlash from left-leaning media and pocket-lining lawyers preying on these situations has hyped it all up to astronomical proportions. It’s almost as if these supposed mishaps were all conveniently designed for nationwide outrage.
No doubt about it, the Trump administration’s plan needs tightening, but if this situation has shown us anything, it’s which side truly fights for America’s interests. The left wants open season on U.S. soil for anyone vocal against our allies, which begs the question: at what point do we prioritize American values over liberal pandering?
