Hunter Biden, the troublesome son of President Joe Biden, has been indicted on three federal gun charges. These charges are the first ones that don’t implicate his father in any wrongdoing, which is quite surprising given Hunter’s track record. Special Counsel David Weiss filed the charges, which could land Hunter in prison for a maximum of 25 years. It seems like the “sweetheart” plea bargain that Hunter was hoping for didn’t work out so well after a judge decided to question its legitimacy.
Now here’s the interesting part: the plea bargain also included misdemeanor charges for Hunter’s willful failure to file federal taxes. These taxes relate to the money Hunter made thanks to his daddy’s connections when Joe Biden was the vice president. Shockingly, Hunter didn’t face any charges for violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA), which would have implicated his dear old dad. I guess they conveniently overlooked that one.
It’s worth noting that Hunter’s lawyer, Chris Clark, even threatened to call President Joe Biden to the witness stand if his son was charged. Talk about a family affair! But here’s the kicker: the gun charges have absolutely nothing to do with Joe Biden. Sure, the president loves to talk about gun control and enforcing gun laws, but this time, he’s in the clear.
It’s no wonder that critics are calling foul on the appointment of Weiss as Special Counsel in the case. As the U.S. Attorney for Delaware, he was responsible for the slow investigation and questionable plea bargain. And now, he gets to oversee the case against Hunter Biden? Talk about a conflict of interest. It’s no wonder people are questioning whether there’s a cover-up in the works.
But wait, there’s more. Weiss decided to slap Hunter with charges of making false statements and possessing a firearm while being addicted to a controlled substance. How does that connect to Joe Biden? Well, it doesn’t. But that won’t stop the conservatives from speculating and pointing fingers.
Hunter Biden’s lawyers have teased that they may challenge the gun charges by citing the Second Amendment. It’s a classic move straight out of the conservative playbook. And who knows, they might just have a point. Only time will tell.
In the meantime, it’s hard not to marvel at the Biden family’s knack for getting themselves into trouble. It’s like they can’t help but make headlines for all the wrong reasons. But hey, at least it keeps the news cycle interesting. Maybe we should just start calling them the Dysfunctionals instead of the Bidens. It has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?
