Lil Nas X Doubles Down: Your Kids Aren’t His Concern

In today’s entertainment world, there seems to be a growing trend where celebrities feel unburdened by any sense of responsibility towards their audience, especially children who often idolize them. It once used to be an unwritten rule that public figures acted with a certain level of decorum, understanding that young minds are impressionable. Despite the role models that stars could, and arguably should, be, it appears many are taking a more self-indulgent path, reveling in a philosophy of “I’ll do what I want,” without considering the impact on society.

The entertainment industry has handed the spotlight to individuals who dismiss any accountability for their actions or words. They’ve ridiculed the notion that they might influence the generation watching them. In the quest for personal expression, they have shaken off the responsibility of setting a positive example. It’s as if every ego and individual desire must be unburdened by the mundane expectation of common decency.

A spectacle is now made of defying norms under the guise of creativity. Male artists have taken to strutting in dresses, touted not as a stylistic choice but lauded as an act of genius and rebellious art. It begs the question of whether such antics are genuinely groundbreaking or whether they’re simply a cry for attention in a world that confuses rebellion with progress. Our society’s adoration of this defies logic.

The real issue lies in the dismissal of their influence. Stars refuse to acknowledge their part in cultural shifts, claiming that it’s not their job to raise other people’s children. However, many celebrities acknowledge and use their influence positively, supporting movements like Black Lives Matter and engaging in philanthropy. This denial of their power in shaping young minds speaks volumes. The abdication of this responsibility is almost Machiavellian. They are riding waves of fame created by young followers without acknowledging the cost of their indifference.

In painting themselves as mere entertainers with no obligation, some celebrities turn their backs on the true nature of their roles. They’re more than just entertainers; they are culture-changers. They hold sway over the youth more than any parent might. Yet, the answer to this influence is a staunch and uncaring “not my problem.” This sentiment is at odds with the actions of many who actively participate in social channels. Traditional values, which emphasize genuine responsibility and decency, are needed now more than ever to balance out the chaos created by this contradiction in the approach of some influencers.
