Lina Khan, FTC Chair, Caught in Lies to Congress- Puppet for Massive Gov’t Control?

Lina Khan, the Chair of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), has come under fire for allegedly lying to Congress about her qualifications and resume. One Republican representative has even called for her resignation, claiming that Khan has shown a “disregard for the rule of law and due process.” The controversy surrounding Khan began after a resignation letter from the agency’s last remaining Republican accused her of operating a “rogue agency.”

According to a report from The Spectator, Khan misrepresented herself during her nomination process. Representative Harriet Hageman, a Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, alleges that Khan “lied to Congress, lied by omission to Congress, and misrepresented herself as a lawyer while lacking the appropriate law license.” Specifically, Hageman points to a hearing where Khan denied ever ignoring the advice of the FTC’s ethics official, which Hageman claims is a lie under oath.

Furthermore, Hageman accuses Khan of inflating her resume and lying about her law credentials. Khan claimed to have worked as a “legal fellow” at the FTC, a position that Hageman argues never existed. Instead, Hageman asserts that Khan was brought on board as a law clerk by FTC commissioner Rohit Chopra. Internal emails obtained by Hageman suggest that Khan’s ties to Chopra played a significant role in her appointment. Additionally, Hageman contends that Khan worked as majority counsel on the Judiciary Committee without a valid DC law license.

These allegations raise concerns about Khan’s qualifications and integrity. It is troubling to think that someone with questionable credentials is in a position of power at the FTC. Moreover, Khan’s close alliance with progressive Senator Elizabeth Warren is worrisome, as it suggests an ideological bias that could influence her decision-making. As conservatives, we must remain vigilant and hold bureaucrats like Khan accountable for their actions. The American people deserve transparency and honesty from those entrusted with regulatory power.
